Inverness Discovering Affordable Hotels for a Budget-Friendly Trip

Melanie17/01/202513/03/2025

Inverness, the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, offers a magical blend of history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. Whether you’re here to explore the legendary Loch Ness, stroll through charming streets, or embark on an adventure through the Highlands, finding affordable yet comfortable accommodation is key to making your trip unforgettable. I recently stayed at a fantastic budget hotel and discovered several other gems worth considering. Here’s a detailed guide to budget-friendly hotels in Inverness, perfect for travelers who want comfort without breaking the bank.

My Stay at the Inverness City Rooms

During my trip to Inverness, I stayed at Inverness City Rooms, a modest yet cozy accommodation that provided everything I needed for a comfortable stay.

Location
The hotel is conveniently located on Millburn Road, just a 10-minute walk from the city center and the train station. It’s ideal for travelers who want easy access to Inverness’ main attractions without staying in the bustling heart of the city. Nearby, you’ll find plenty of cafes, small shops, and a supermarket, making it incredibly convenient for budget-conscious travelers.

How to Book
Booking the hotel was simple and hassle-free. I used Booking.com, where I found great last-minute deals. The hotel also offers direct booking through their website, often with small discounts for longer stays.

How to Get There
From Inverness Airport, I took the Jet Bus Service 11 to the city center, which cost about £5. From the bus station, it was a quick 15-minute walk to the hotel. Alternatively, taxis are readily available, costing around £20. If you’re arriving by train, the walk from the Inverness train station takes about 10 minutes.

The Environment
Inverness City Rooms is a small, family-run property with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The exterior is unassuming, but the interior is clean, modern, and well-maintained. The reception staff were incredibly friendly, providing local tips and helping me plan my itinerary.

Facilities
The rooms are simple but well-equipped. My double room had a comfortable bed, a small desk, free Wi-Fi, and a flat-screen TV. The en-suite bathroom was spotless, with good water pressure in the shower. Although the hotel doesn’t offer breakfast, there’s a shared kitchenette with a microwave, kettle, and fridge, which was perfect for preparing quick meals or snacks.

My Experience
I enjoyed my stay at Inverness City Rooms. The location was excellent, the staff were attentive, and the room provided everything I needed for a restful night after long days of sightseeing. For the price, it was exceptional value. I’d rate it 8.5/10 and highly recommend it for solo travelers, couples, or anyone on a budget.
